Drawing 7

Reductive drawing in charcoal. Scarf
Using the willow charcoal on its side to fill the area and then using not a putty eraser but a soft artists eraser, which seemed to hold it shape better than the putty I had,I created this drawing trying very hard to concentrate on tone instead of line. I thought the scarf would be the perfect subject as it's soft folds and slightly shiny fabric picked up the light perfectly. This took me less than half the time of the pencil version of the whole still life but I felt I the charcoal pushed me to really concentrat on trying to capture the movement of the scarf in all the folds. Not got completely happy with it but will try agan. I loved the technique so will be trying a self portrait in charcoal next :)
